So back to the hats. . .

It’s just now starting to get a little cold here in the Rocky Mountains and kids are starting to bundle up just a little. One of the first things many do is to add a hat to their wardrobe when going to school. Yes, hats are still allowed in school around here and besides, you can freeze body parts without them in the winter time.
Anyway, the fact is, kids are beginning to wear baseball hats, hoodies and of all things. . . shorts! That’s right, shorts as in summer bottom clothing while bundling up the upper body, go figure. What’s interesting is that if you watch closely, you’ll also start to see the inevitable horseplay that always seems to come with headgear.
Swiping a friends hat seems just to be part of the winter season. Trying it on though can lead to a serious case of headlice. See, unlike many parasites, lice move from head to head (or host to host) by contact. If your friend has lice, chances are they’re also in his hat along with a few or more eggs. Any live parasite louse including a single egg is enough to infect yet another head.
Something to think about when watching the kids goof around by taking and trying on each others hats.
