Natural remedy for head louse

The Problem with a Natural Remedy for Head Louse Is...

The biggest problem with any parasitical treatment is that you never really know if it worked completed.  See, all cures and treatment options for lice depend on your ability, at least in part, to remove all lice and nits from the infested persons scalp, person and belongings.

Bottom line, there are only two general ways of attacking a louse infestation.  The first is through the use of insecticide based shampoos and the second is more natural products.  Insecticide based products typically contain ingredients such as permethrins and pyrethrins.  Some products, you can get from the Web even contain Lindane, an ingredient that has been banned in California due to its toxicity and is coming under increased pressure for elimination due to its toxicity.  There are also some shampoos and over-the-counter products that contain Malathion, a popular insecticide used on many food crops.

The alternative to these products is choosing a more natural remedy for head louse.  These products typically use essential oils, herbs, and natural insect repellent ingredients such as eucalyptus oil.

Many home remedies are unfortunately based on wives tales.  These include using many of them common household foodstuffs such as mayonnaise and peanut butter to attack head lice.  While this may be an honest effort, using these products are based on the idea that you can smother the louse and kill it.

There are several things wrong with this type of treatment, however.  The first is that many of these home remedy types require the application of mayonnaise, olive oil, peanut butter etc. on a person's head to be left eight hours or more.  Can you imagine your hair filled with peanut butter or mayonnaise for 10 to 12 hours at a time?

bugs

Another problem with these types of head louse home remedy treatments are that they're based on the false assumption that it's easy to smother Headlice.  Research has shown that lice can remain underwater over eight to 10 hours and remain alive.  So while using these food-based home remedies may seem like a good idea, all it really does is make a mess.

Regardless of the type of lice treatment you choose, one of the most effective ways of removing lice is simply by combing.  Using a special louse comb, it's possible to carefully and completely remove all louse, and nits in nymphs from an infected person's head.  Care should be taken however, because if you miss even a single live louse or nit, re-infestation will be evident within a couple of weeks.

The answer is to use a high-quality natural remedy followed up by a thorough combing.
