Every treatment and home remedy for louse removal has someone who claims it's the most effective way to get rid of head lice

While these types of testimonials are nice, the Harvard School of Public Health has indicated that for every success story using a particular treatment, there is a corresponding story where it didn't work. This suggests that at best, many home treatments have a 50% failure rate.

So with the understanding that there are people who have tried each of these home remedies who are willing to swear how effective and wonderful it is. Here are a few of the home head louse treatments that have been claimed to be effective

         1.Petroleum Jelly
2. Motor Oil
3. Dog Shampoo
4. Rubbing Alcohol
5. Neem Oil
6. Tea Tree Oil
7. Olive Oil

Petroleum jelly or petrolatum, is a very old and very common louse treatment. It involves gooing up the person's hair. You need to be certain that each strand is coded completely all the way down to the scalp. A plastic bag or shower cap is then placed on the person's head and left overnight. The petroleum jelly is removed by then applying, and I'm not making this up, peanut butter to the hair. Apparently the peanut butter is claimed to mix with the petroleum jelly, making it easier to remove with shampooing.

Dog Shampoo - this is interesting as many stock shampoos have pesticides and chemicals in the product to fight terror sites such as sleaze attacks. To make matters worse, some dog shampoos have active ingredients such as pyrethrins, that are harmful to children's health.

The theory with rubbing alcohol is that the little lice bugs are dried out. The problem with this is that rubbing alcohol can also dry out your scalp and cause flaking, itching and other unpleasant side effects that are a lot like having the louse infestation in the first place. Anyway, rinse you hair leaving the alcohol in for 30 minutes. Repeat weekly until the lice, nits etc. are completely gone.

Olive Oil and White Vinegar Soak your hair in olive oil overnight then wash in the morning to remove the oil. Rinse with white vinegar. Repeat for 4 nights in a row. Is claimed to remove nits and kill live.

Neem Oil and Leaves is an Indian remedy. If you can find neem oil, soak hair for about an hour. Wash out with shampoo then work through hair from scalp to tip with fine-toothed comb.
The term "nit picking" is especially appropriate here but this product has been shown to be somewhat effective and it is natural. So if you're looking specifically for a natural cure for head louse, using a need oil based product is probably your best bet.

These home treatments are designed to suffocate the lice. The problem is that the nits, or eggs are almost impervious to many remedies and are in the egg stage for between7-10 days. This means that any treatment plan should deal with the nits and be certain that every one is removed. remedy head louse treatment options need to be carefully considered. Do you have the time to work with them?

If only 1 nit is left behind, your head would once again be re-infested quickly.
