Deciding what head louse treatment option is best depends on your level of comfort with using insecticide based products and financial situation.

If money is a critical deciding factor, the best bet is to shave the infested head. The next cheapest options is a nit comb only but be prepared for hours of work.

The final option is a balance between cost and time. You can't go wrong with a high quality essential oil shampoo and an optional follow up with a nit comb.
